Changing your motorcycle grips is not an extremely difficult job, but it is one that will require a bit of time, some forethought, and some effort. Of course, before changing your motorcycle grips, you should either order your new ones or pick up a pair at your local shop.

There are many different kinds of grips to choose from, including heated motorcycle grips, and many, many different brands. However, the ones you ultimately decide to buy will most likely be bet suited to your riding style. Be sure to research the pros and cons of each choice before handing over your cash, as trying to return a pair of motorcycle grips after you have installed them is extremely frustrating and time consuming.

The best way to remove the motorcycle hand grips that are currently on your motorcycle is to use compressed air and a long, narrow air nozzle that will allow you to shoot air up and underneath the grip. Shoot the grip with air as you pull, and you should find that the motorcycle grips come right off using this method.

If they do not, or if you do not have access to compressed air, you may need to utilize a knife or razor blade to remove the motorcycle handlebar grips. This method requires a great deal of time and more effort, but it will work for those who do not have access to an air compressor or an appropriately sized nozzle.

Before installing your new motorcycle grips, be sure to remember to clean off the handles after removing the old ones.  To make the new ones stick, you are going to want to get a high quality handgrip cement, and add a small amount to the inside of the new grips. Make sure to put the grip on quickly after you have applied the cement, and rotate it as you put it on to evenly distribute the glue. This will keep the grips from sliding off, as long as you made sure to remove all of the leftover cement that was left on your handle after removing the old motorcycle grips.

After applying the cement to your new motorcycle hand grips and installing them, make sure to let your bike sit for twelve hours before riding it. This will give the cement time to set up, and will keep the grips from sliding off as you ride down the road and put pressure on them.
